The former member of the Green Party, Rodrigo Perezalonso, was separated from the position of professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana (Ibero), after he insulted Senator Citlali Hernández through social media.

Through her Twitter account, Perezalonso shared a screenshot on Monday with news of Citlali Hernandez’s record as a candidate for Morena’s presidency with a derogatory comment about her physique.
“Urgent News: Senator Citlali registered with the presidency of @morena with the OINC-Organized for Nutrition platform of Citlalli” (sic), she wrote.
After receiving criticism from other users for the shared publication, the former ibero-American University professor erased the tweet, noted that it had been a joke, “as I have done as a satire on different occasions about other public characters” and apologized.
“I think I overdid it, especially since the joke focused on this person’s physique. That’s why I offer an apology,” he said.

Yesterday afternoon, the Ibero disagreed with Rodrigo Perezalonso’s comments and noted that “offensive or denigrating comments from people who in her profile say they are members of our community do not reflect the position of our institution”.
What Professor @rperezalonso said about Senator @CitlaHM an example of the above, and we disreach this fact.

This Tuesday, the University reported that as soon as they became aware of the comment made by the then professor “we make it clear that such attitudes and behaviors are contrary to the values of our institution”.
“After a thorough deliberation between representatives from different sectors of our university, including the law department, the Universidad Iberoamericana reports that Rodrigo Perezalonso has been separated from his position as a professor in all your subjects,” he said in a statement.

About Perezalonso’s insult, Senator Citlali Hernandez wrote on social media that she doesn’t mind being criticized for her physique, “what I feel sorry for is that sexist, hate-filled men like Perezalonso find space in media like Excelsior and teach at universities like ibero.”

For his part, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Arturo Zaldívar, congratulated the Universidad Iberoamericana on its decision and noted that “this is how gender-based violence is fought, with strong actions that demonstrate its commitment against all kinds of discrimination or harassment”.
