The Municipality of the Bonaerense town of Moreno carried out a campaign against gender-based violence that appeals to men’s attitudes towards abusive, violent or inappropriate situations towards women and challenges them not to let them pass and intervene. “Don’t Be Complicit” is the title of the video on the prevention of gender-based violence that has already reached one million views. “We set out to challenge the men to warn about the violence of their peers,” the spokesmen of the commune’s communication team told Télam. In the video we can see situations where at a dinner with friends different types of violence occur and two universes are shown, making a parallel. Where in the first section, in the face of violence, other men celebrate the action of the violent or ignore it. And in the second part you can see the different participants cutting these actions, compensating them, or s holding them back. That’s why “Don’t Be Complice” is the slogan chosen to raise awareness of how to act in the face of such situations.
Because if we see or perceive violence and we remain silent, we are part of it. The video found in the networks of the Municipality is starring actors and actresses who are part of theater workshops of the commune and is focused on the younger audience and specifically to break with the sexist complicity.
