After a decade of success with the famous girl who hates soup and questions adults, on June 25, 1973, Quino decided not to draw any more Mafalda strips, although her books continued to be reprinted.
Mafalda even accompanied campaigns by organizations such as UNICEF, the Spanish Red Cross, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Argentina, among others.
In fact, UNICEF Spain fired the Argentine cartoonist after confirming his death by recalling one of his campaigns.
“Thank you both for celebrating differences, claiming love and always defending the rights of all children! We will keep as a treasure the illustrated rights that the Argentine master gave us,” the agency published.
