One merchant shot dead one of the four criminals who tried to rob him in the Matanza, while a group of neighbors beat another of the assailants. The event occurred this Saturday afternoon between Yanzi and Pita streets, in the town of Rafael Castillo, south-east of the Conurbano bonaerense. Police and judicial sources reported to the Télam agency, the 36-year-old baker was in his truck parked next to his son when four criminals mobilizing in a colored Chevrolet car boarded him intercepted to rob him.
Witnesses to the episode reported that the merchant was threatened with weapons by criminals who intended to steal his shirt, to which the man got out of it and braided himself in a fight with one of them. In the midst of the struggle, the baker snatched the weapon from the assailant and fired several shots that hit another criminal, who fell to death on the ground. In the midst of that situation, the other two thieves escaped gunshots, while the assailant who had braided himself with the merchant was beaten to death by locals. As can be seen in a video that spread on Twitter, the offender was lying on the ground, while being insulted and kicked before police officers arrive and arrested him. Sources noted that both the deceased and the detainee were 17 years old and have a criminal record, as were the two accomplices who managed to escape. In turn, experts warned that there were about seven bullet hits in the baker’s truck and in the back seat they found a 32-gauge revolver with which the man defended himself from the assault. The episode is investigated by prosecutor Emilio Spatafora, of the Criminal Jurisdictional Liability Division of the Judicial Department La Matanza, who released the trader assaulted on the assumption that he acted in his self-defense.
