On the occasion of the commemoration of World Mental Health Day, the authorities of the Ministry of Health referred to the importance of the «Healthy» programme, presented on 1 June this year by the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, considering the impact that the pandemic has had on people’s mental health. In this regard, Undersecretary Paula Daza invited further support of the Programme, whose website www.gob.cl/saludablemente offers professional assistance and a number of recommendations to respond to such needs.» On this page is also Health Responds, where people can ask for an hour with a psychologist to attend to them immediately or they can ask for an hour for the following days,» said the authority, who added that from June 1 to date, more than 75,000 people have been cared for and more than 123,000 users have visited this platform. A key part of this plan was the creation of an Advisory Table on Welfare and Mental Health issues that worked for 12 weeks to achieve more than 30 strategies and more than 100 actions, of which a third is already on course. This working table included the participation of members of academia, civil society, parliamentarians and the government, completing a group of about 50 people.» We are very happy and grateful for the work done by the group of experts and collaborators during this time. And this effort doesn’t end here. The idea is to continue from the point of view of maintaining an organization that can help and ensure that we can move forward on mental health issues,» emphasized Matías Irarrázaval, Head of the Department of Mental Health at the Ministry of Health.
