Michoacán.- Indigenous Supreme Council blocks 4 roads in Michoacán on October 12 through the Day of Fight for the Defense of Mother Earth and for the Dignity, Resistance and Struggle of The Original Peoples.
OCTOBER 12: DAY OF STRUGGLE FOR THE DEFENSE OF MOTHER EARTH AND FOR THE DIGNITY, RESISTANCE AND STRUGGLE OF THE ORIGINAL PEOPLES
TO INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES AND PEOPLES
TO THE MEDIA
TO THE PEOPLE OF MICHOACÁN
TO THE PEOPLE OF MEXICO
TO THE MEXICAN STATE
Communities, as of October 12, 2020.
K’eri Kunkorhekua Iretecheri, the Supreme Indigenous Council of Michoacán #CSIM, autonomous and independent council, consisting of civil, communal and traditional authorities from 60 native communities, together state the following:
October 12, 2020 is not the day of the “discovery of America”, we were not discovered, our territories were known, inhabited, named and ruled by the native peoples for thousands of years before the arrival of the conquerors, our lands were invaded and looted, not discovered, nor is it “race day” because races do not exist, biologically, or scientifically since we all come from the same species, let alone the “meeting day of two worlds” because it was a process of invasion, conquest, subjugation and exploitation of ancestral cultures, for us it is the Day of Dignity, Resistance and Struggle of the Original Peoples.
Under this framework on October 12 we carry out a general mobilization by taking roads in our territories in the following points:
1.- Pátzcuaro-Uruapan road in San Juan Tumbio.
2.- Morelia-Zacapu Road in Orange.
3.- Nahuatzen-Paracho road in Aranza.
4- Cheran-Zamora Road in Santo Tomas.
Petition Fold:
1.- Stop the war against the EZLN, indigenous peoples and communities.
2.- Respect for the self-determination, self-government and autonomy of the original peoples. Direct budget for indigenous peoples.
3.- Respect for the ancestral security and justice systems of communal rounds and traditional judges.
4.- Withdrawal of the sculpture “the sculptors” from the morelia aqueduct, since it represents colonialism, exploitation, slavery and genocide of original communities.
5.- Solution to the problem of the indigenous communities of Michoacán. The Federal and State Government have not complied with obligations and commitments to indigenous peoples, so we demand a resolute working table.
Long live Juchari Uinápekua!
