translated from Spanish: Rafael Sarmiento: “I think today J Balvin is on top of Ricky Martin in terms of achievements in the music industry”

The Billboard Music Awards 2020 will be held tomorrow, an event that was originally scheduled for April and was postponed by the pandemic. It will be broadcast at 21:00 hours in TNT in Spanish, while you can see the award in its original language in TNT Series.
The awards ceremony will be animated by American singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson, who will host it for the third time in a row from Las Vegas.
For this edition rapper Post Malone is the artist who achieved the most nominations with a number of 16. The ones who follow him in the preferences are Lil Nas X with 13 and Billie Eilish and Khalid with 12 nominations.
Among Latin artists, the highest nominations were in J Balvin and Bad Bunny, who have five and four places in the contest respectively.
The event will feature hosts Rafael Sarmiento and Ileana Rodríguez who will broadcast from Spain and Madrid respectively. For them, the Billboards Awards will be a new challenge when performed in the distance.
Will the event be totally remotely as seen at the Emmys?

Ileana: We don’t have much information about the awards ceremony. The scan we receive looks just like other years. We feedback will be made by Rafael from Madrid at home and I will go to the offices of TNT Mexico and well, all the control and production team will be in Buenos Aires then yes it will be remotely as we did at the Emmys but more exciting because everything can happen. For example, for the Emmys, I couldn’t connect within 20 minutes of the show starting. It was adrenaline from the good (laughs).
How do you see Latino participation this year?

Ileana: The category of Latinos is going to be delivered to the air, then it’s going to be a father, there’s also a Bad Bunny performance that’s one of the things I hope to see the most. There’s going to be a lot of Latin presence at the awards.
Rafael: I’m impressed by what happened to J Balvin. I am very surprised, very fresh from what this artist has done and created. I think it’s on top of Ricky Martin today in terms of achievement, penetration and market consecration.
Do you think it’s because of the number of collaborations he’s had?

Ileana: That’s something all three have achieved: J Balvin, Bad Bunny and Maluma. They have been able to collaborate with the right artists to appear and bear the latin american name outside the Latino community.
Rafael: Among them too, I think reggaeton is the only genre that has truly created a community where they are all friends, they all work with everyone.
Who are your favorite Latinos for the awards?

Rafael: For me it’s J Balvin. Of Latinos without a doubt, I am semi in love with him (laughs).
Ileana: I’m in love with Bad Bunny. I’m actually a fan of both J Balvin and Bad Bunny of Maluma no, I’m out of here (laughs).
How do you see the role of women on the Billboards?

Ileana: I love that the show’s cheerleader is for the third year in a row Kelly Clarkson. I love what it conveys, what it stands for. This bodypossitive wave that is now so fashionable. I like that there are artists who are nothing more skeletons in the media. For me that’s the main message: have a hostess who looks happy and proud of her own physique. On the other hand there is the part of the nominees. There’s Billie Eilish who I also love the message she conveys and it’s obviously for a different generation than the one that came to Kelly Clarkson and I love this. For example, she (Eilish) brings these oversized clothes like, “I don’t want people judging me through my body.” I’m fascinated that there are girls growing up with that message.
What is the biggest challenge of transmitting from afar?

Rafael: Don’t let it look like we’re at these distances. I think that’s the challenge, that everything goes as it usually goes in TNT. Don’t let it have an echo, we don’t trampl and don’t feel like there are people in Buenos Aires, others in Mexico and others in Madrid.
It is also very interactive this type of format, which include both social networks…

Rafael: I feel like today all these kinds of prizes and events are seen on two screens. I’m abusing Ileana herself, because she’s broadcasting and working. It is impossible for him not to retweet, put memes, laugh, etc..
Ileana: I swear that what I enjoy most is participating in social media in events like this because everyone is pending. Everyone is giving their opinion and I love being there participating.
Rafael: Now it was the U.S. presidential debate, and by the time I didn’t see it. The next day in the tomorrow with coffee I was up to date just to see the timeline of Ileana, there you see how through social networks you can live these massive events.
