The Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office (Profeco) reported that producers of 13 out of 25 products ordered to suspend their marketing may return to the market.

In a statement, the Attorney General’s Office detailed that in recent days, legal representations of various companies presented documentary evidence to the Profeco of corrections and/or modifications to comply with the rules.
“The hearings held by Profeco, headed by Attorney Ricardo Sheffield, with food companies are not for clarification, but for them to prove that corrections and changes to their labels and content were made to comply with official Mexican standards,” he said in a statement.
These are the cheeses you have accredited that meet the standards:
– FUD, Panela Cont Cheese. Net. 200 g. The legal representation of the company Sigma Alimentos Comercial presented the correction of the label with the declaration of caseinates.
-FUD, Panela Cont Cheese. Net. 400 g. He corrected the label with the caseinate declaration and changed the legend “100% MILK” to “100% DAIRY”, since the product is made with cow’s milk derivatives and butyric fats.
-FUD, Panela cheese, square slices, 10 slices, presentation 300 gr. Corrected label, reformulated its ingredient list, with no evidence of additional cassettes on labeling.

Yogurt 
The return of Danone Natural’s natural drinking yogurt of 220 grams will also be allowed, after legal representation changed its labeling.

In the coming days, Profeco will serve the legal representatives of the rest of the companies whose products were observed for not complying with the provisions of the Official Standards.

The Ministry of the Economy reported on 13 October on the immediate suspension of the marketing or sale of products from various cheese brands and two ‘natural’ yogurt brands for using the legend ‘100% milk’, without being or adding more sugar than indicated on the label.
