The Ministry of Health made available to the public the 18th Weekly Report on Deaths, prepared by the Department of Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the portfolio led by Dr. Enrique Paris.
According to the document, in Chile there are 18,313 people who died, among confirmed and probable cases, by Covid-19.
In detail, as of Thursday, October 15, 13,588 deces were recorded with confirmed PCR examination. While probable deceased, i.e. who are awaiting confirmation or discard of contagion, meanwhile, are 4,725.
According to the DEIS document, the Metropolitan Region remains the region with the highest adjusted mortality rate per 100,000 inhabitants of 103.89. It is followed by Antofagasta (92.96) and Tarapacá (66.22). On the other hand, the lower-rate regions are Aysén (4.60) and Los Ríos (7.62), followed by Los Lagos (15.35), La Araucanía (16.12) and Auble (17.93).
The national mortality rate, meanwhile, stands at 58.87, considering confirmed and probable decesses by Covid-19.
The Minsal also published the 60th Epidemiological Report which revealed that until 16 October Chile accumulated 553,156 cases of Covid-19 (488,190 with laboratory confirmation and 64,966 probable, without laboratory confirmation), with a rate of 2,842.8 infected per 100,000 inhabitants.
The highest cumulative incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants, according to laboratory-confirmed cases, are found in Magellan (6,620.2), R.M. (4,030.1) and Arica and Parinacota (3718.2).
