Mexico.- Summoned to testify for investigations into the videos in which he is seen receiving cash for his brother’s presidential campaign, Pío López Obrador filed with the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) a criminal complaint against those responsible for the dissemination of these video-recorded materials. He established that they were revealed in Latinus, in the program Loret Chapter 12, directed by Carlos Loret de Mola, and demanded to apply a punishment of 12 years in prison.

Pío López Obrador received cash packages in 2015, from David León, then communications advisor to the governor of Chiapas at the time, Manuel Velasco. It was León himself who recorded at least two meetings that they held, in which the delivery of money occurred and in which they spoke in detail of a schedule of deliveries and the purpose of promoting the political project of Andrés Manuel López Obrador for 2018, in search of the presidency of Mexico.
President López Obrador corroborated the truth of what was published in Latinus the next day but stated that the money received by his brother was neither illegal nor the product of corruption but “contributions” to the movement he headed. He compared these in deliveries of money to the supports that Francisco I. Madero received to lead the 1910 revolution.
