Dover Quartet will perform its first Latin American tour in 2020, but the situation generated by the pandemic forced them to change these plans and choose to make their presentations in online format, that is why the prestigious group, resident at the Curtis Institute of Music, will debut digitally at the Municipal Theater in Chile on October 30, at 20 hours, with a repertoire that will be recorded earlier in Philadelphia. Even on this tour that includes Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru and Chile.
About the Dover Quartet
Composed of violinists Joel Link and Bryan Lee, cellist Milena Pajaron-van de Stadt and cellist Camden Shaw, the Dover Quartet is one of the most sought-after ensembles on stage in the world.
Hailed as “the next Guarneri Quartet” (Chicago Tribune), the Dover Quartet catapulted into international starship in 2013, after winning all the awards at the Banff Competition and has since become one of the most sought-after ensembles in the world.
In addition to his teaching role as the first Assembly in Residence “Penelope P. Watkins” at the Curtis Institute of Music, the Dover Quartet has made residences at the Kennedy Center, northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, Artosphere, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival and the Peoples’ Symphony in New York. Honors received by the ensemble include the Avery Fisher Scholarship, Chamber Music America’s Cleveland Quartet Award, and lincoln center’s Hunt Family Award. Also at ease in the repertoires of a variety of eras, the quartet has worked with some of the world’s most important living composers, including Caroline Shaw and Mason Bates.
Recent collaborators of the quartet include Emanuel Ax, Inon Barnaton, Ray Chen, Edgar Meyer, Anthony McGill, the Escher Quartet and Roomful of Teeth. After making two albums with Cedille Records, the ensemble is recording Beethoven’s full string quartet cycle for the same label, the first volume of which will be released in September 2020.
The Dover Quartet was formed in 2008 at the Curtis Institute of Music.
They have just been the cover of the magazine “The Strad” one of the most important for string instrumentalists.
In addition, due to their high level of performance they have collaborated with renowned artists such as pianist Emanuel Ax and b.B. Edgar Meyer.
The program to be held in Chile was decided by the public, since the Teatro Municipal made an innovative invitation to choose, by vote the repertoire that Will Be played by Dover Quartet.
