The Security Commissioner, Julisa Suárez Bucio, stressed that since the beginning of the current administration, various projects were launched to optimize the work of the Police, from the capacity of its agents to the programs they implement, as well as closer coordination with state and federal authorities.

In this period, the Morelia Police has carried out 5 thousand 994 preventive operations, of 6 different programmes of action, which in conjunction with the advancement of Civic Justice, which currently registers 5 thousand 414 hearings, has contributed to a noticeable decrease in crime in the period january to September 2019 and 2020 , compared to the same period in 2018, in crimes such as theft to trade (15 and 7 per cent), theft of home room (7 and 9 per cent), theft of passers-by (29 and 13 per cent), theft of carriers (43 and 38 per cent) and theft of vehicles (52 and 33 per cent), respectively.
In addition, officers have undergone courses and trainings in road education, gender-sensitive victim care, first responder, proximity, procedural capacity building, core competencies, national detention registration, civil unrest and tactical grouping, among others, in addition to having 96 per cent of police officers with the Single Police Certificate, the highest figure in Michoacán.
This has shown, in addition to the decrease in the incidence of crime, a noticeable change among the morelians, how it was recently demonstrated in the National Public Safety Survey, conducted by INEGI, where there was an 11.8 percent decrease in the perception of insecurity on the part of the public.
