translated from Spanish: Access to decent housing; question of justice: Torres Piña

Morelia; Michoacán.- Access to decent and decent housing is an indispensable right and a matter of justice that is based on the full guarantee of human rights, since it is substantial to the dignity of people, argues Carlos Torres Piña, president of the Housing Commission of the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of the Union.
The Michoacan legislator, originally from the land of the guitar, pointed out that housing is the place where human beings are protected, so having it becomes a condition of survival and development in terms of safety, autonomy, development and independence of people.
For the most unprotected sectors of the country it is a matter of justice, because with the wages that exist it is difficult for them to acquire or build a home, as is the case of 15 million people who have a mixed economy or 5 million who are not affiliated with any housing institute. So the popular housing credit must be cheap and sufficient, the federal legislator said.
In order to comply more effectively with the housing provisions, embodied in magna Carta and in the international treaties signed by Mexico for those most in need, the Mexican State intervenes in legislative, administrative, public policy and budget matters. For this reason, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador sent an initiative to reform the laws of IMSS and ISSSTE to the Chamber of Deputies, which aims to give credit for the acquisition of housing, purchase of land to build, expand or remodel and pay mortgages, also eliminate intermediaries and administrative locks, explained Torres Piña.
Housing to be considered dignified and decent must have the basic services and sufficient space, in addition it must be located in an area where there are education services, hospitals or clinics, recreational parks, sports facilities, conditions that have not been met with the homes of social interest that have been built in Mexico, because the housing management model was based on a corrupt and rapacious scheme between public officials and construction companies , which they built in places far from urban centers and from which it follows that there are 5 million abandoned houses in Mexico.

For all that is exposed, it is intended to correct mistakes and close the door to corruption in the construction of housing, because this depends on the access to justice of millions of people.
