During his participation in the opening of National Transparency Week 2020, Sandoval Ballesteros added that “for decades, in the neoliberal period, emergencies became fertile ground for such structural corruption, in fertile ground for large corporations, large economic and private interests to become increasingly public.”

According to the holder of the Secretariat of the Public Service, the unit had acted to prevent public resources from being diverted under the pretext of the pandemic, and recalled that it had been sanctioned on a number of suppliers who sold overpriced inputs.
“Unfortunately, too, and we have to recognize it, practices outside the new public ethic have been identified, especially by some ill-used suppliers, who have not understood that the old regime is over,” he said.
On them, he said, that “to all those who have speculated about the tragedy, who have sold us over-priced, we have punished them from the Secretary of the Public Service.”

Last April, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the economic and health crisis over the pandemic in Mexico is “transitional”, and stated that he came “with a ring to his finger” to his government, to strengthen the purpose of the transformation he wants to realize in the country.
