Undersecretary of Health Prevention and Promotion Hugo López-Gatell called on the media to stop using their spaces to disseminate information from the COVID-19 pandemic with ‘political tint’ and instead call the population to use cover.

This Tuesday, López-Gatell called the signs that the authorities have not sufficiently recommended the use of water cover covers, which have been formulated “from the front pages of national newspapers, radio, television and social media”.
During his participation in National Transparency Week 2020, the undersecretary said the front pagers should dedicate their fronts to the message “use your cover.”

“What better than on the front pages, instead of a red note approach that highlights the confrontation of political tint, put on every morning, the front page will be dedicated to using your cover or on internal pages, that they assumed the cost of those spaces to promote health,” he said.
Since last March, at the beginning of the pandemic, López-Gatell has insisted that the use of water cover does not serve to protect the population from the spread of coronavirus or other infectious diseases, although they are useful for containing the virus in people who are already sick.

As of November 18, 15 thousand 71 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Mexico and 99,528 deaths from the disease have been confirmed.
