translated from Spanish: Men break into women’s digital forum to insult and masturbate

A group of men broke into a digital forum held on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to masturbate in front of the participants and offend them.
The fact was denounced by the Twelfth Regidora of durango City Council, Paulina Monreal Castillo, who was one of the forum’s speakers.
In a video, the regidora noted that the forum was held last Tuesday by the Youth on the Move, as part of the #25N.

He recounted that when the forum had already begun, some young people joined the video chat and activated their cameras “to masturbate in front of them and use the chat of it to make insults towards me”.
Monreal Castillo regretted the fact and said that insults are not only for her, but for all women “that we have decided to leave the sphere to which men believe that we belong, who believe that we only serve to have children, be wives or be housewives. This is no longer the case, women who make a determination to improve our intonation through politics deserve respect.”
The regidora expressed her fed-up with such situations and demanded respect from men.
“We are tired and fed up that they consider them to be superior beings and that they have the right to ask us to occupy their spaces, this cannot continue to happen (…) it is regrettable that in the middle of the 21st century we still have to face these stereotypes. That’s enough,” he said.

I regret that in the 21st century, and a few hours after commemorating the Day for Awareness and Eradication of Violence against Women and Girls, these events will happen. That’s why I keep my voice up, because today women must know that we are not alone.
