On October 23, Porfirio Muñoz Ledo asked the militancy of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) to express himself and not allow the victory of money over politics, after it was revealed that Mario Delgado Carrillo defeated him in the survey to decide who would be the leader of the party that founded Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
“Companions and colleagues, members of the basis of our party, the only acceptable decision for the organization of a political party is that of the foundation, expressed in its constituent bodies. These polls are kicked out by private companies and outside the law, we always protest against them, because they meant the triumph of money over principles. Mexico’s National Electoral Institute (INE) announced on October 23 that Deputy Mario Delgado won the poll to elect the new leader of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena).
Delgado, who represents the wing closest to López Obrador, prevailed with 58.6 percent of the supports compared to the 41.4 percent obtained by his rival in the contest, the deputy Porfirio Muñoz Ledo.
