The Junior de Barranquilla advanced with suffering on Thursday to the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana by prevailing 2-4 on penalties, after losing 2-1 with Unión La Calera that forced the tiebreaker and equalled the series 3-3 on the overall.
The Colombian team that finished with two outings, Teo Gutierrez at 85 by elbowing a rival, and Larry Vasquez, in time of replenishment, and ended up in his goal during the second half of the match, will face chile’s Coquimbo Unido in the next phase

Catholic University vs River Plate (U)
The Catholic University managed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana despite falling 0-1 against Uruguayan River Plate on Thursday in the eighth round of the game. The Crusaders finished the last minutes of the match boxed in their area despite having one more man, receiving the onslaughts of the charrúa ensemble.
In the 51st minute Facundo Bonifazi scored the only one in the match, but it was not enough as the Chilean draw scored two visiting goals in the first leg. In the next round, the ‘Cruzado’ team will face Vélez of Argentina.
