translated from Spanish: Uncorked 2021: Chile’s renowned wine guide is now on sale

A new edition of Uncorked is now available to the public. The Guide, by journalist and wine critic Patricio Tapia, has been commenting and delivering scores to Chilean wines for 22 years.
This year, it comes completely renovated and with record figures: no less than 2,600 wines from 260 Chilean vineyards tasted, from the north of the country to the southernmost in the Osorno Valley; the most complete panorama of the Chilean wine scene.
“In this version 2021 we include two rankings with the top ten whites and the top ten reds of the year, along with selections of the best by grape varieties, styles and origin. As usual, we have also selected the revelations of the year, wines that are trending in Chile and that you can not fail to taste,” says Patricio Tapia.
“We have dedicated a complete section of Uncorked to the main terroirs of the country – places from which today the best national wines are born – explained in technical terms from their geology, but also from a taste point of view: what are the flavors that these terroirs offer to those who try them,” he adds.
On the wines tasted, Patricio states that “during the last years of Uncorked we have witnessed a wine revolution that begins to show its differences, as the harvests move forward. This has happened in the Uco Valley, mendoza or Maipo, Chile or Uruguay, between tannat of granite soils facing the Atlantic or those of clay and lime soils overlooking the Rio de la Plata. What used to be only a mass of good but generic wines, thanks to greater precision when cutting the bunches has managed to begin to show its sense of place”.
