translated from Spanish: They’ll buy 80 ambulances with the 108 mdp donations from officials

The federal government announced that 108.6 million pesos have been collected as a result of voluntary contributions from public officials’ salaries and aguinaldos. With these resources, 80 ambulances will be purchased for rural hospitals.
At the morning press conference, Galia Borja, treasurer of the Federation, recalled that fundraising was made possible by the Austerity Decree, published in the Official Journal last April, where public servants were asked to make contributions voluntarily.
With the amount donated, the Ministry of Finance made the budget expansion to the Institute of Health for Welfare (INSABI), which decided to make the purchase of 80 ambulances for rural hospitals of the IMSS-Welfare program.

Gisela Lara Saldaña, program holder, reported that vehicles will benefit 19 states and that ambulances will be of the Basic Emergency type.
On the beneficiary communities, he stated that “many of them are quite far from their headwaters in the capitals of the states where they are located, they are quite marginalized places, difficult to access.”
The acquisition of ambulances will cost 147.8 million pesos, and their purchase was the result of coordination between INSABI, Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), IMSS-Welfare and Public Welfare.
On voluntary contribution
The reduction was 5 to 25% of the net monthly salary, which would be progressively given, which means that those who earned the most had to contribute more, and those at lower levels were given a lower discount.

The action is part of andrés Manuel López Obrador’s austerity plan, hand in hand with the Ministry of Finance. The donation program has been opened since July 16.
It was agreed that resources should be made through the contribution mechanism, already existing in the Federation Treasury, covering more than 20 banking institutions.
