Igor González, the prime suspect in the death of Maria Isabel Pavez, is fugitive from justice, after yesterday the Regional Metropolitan Oriente Prosecutor’s Office applied for an arrest warrant against her.
The application made to the 14th Warranty Court of Santiago is based on the body of the obstetrics student being found precisely in his department.
At the close of this note, González, a former 22-year-old girl, was still in fugitive and was intensely wanted by the policemen to find his whereabouts and interrogate him.
From the Chilean Network against Violence against Women, her spokeser Lorena Astudillo, told radio Cooperativa that there is concern about femicide figures in the country that in 10 years “have not changed significantly”.
“Public policies to prevent and eradicate violence against women are not being effective, as a state is failing and that needs to be reviewed, now as soon as a complaint of a woman’s disappearance is made, all police officers, the Public Prosecutor’s Office should put the full resources to look for that woman because if the family has suspicions that something bad has happened are always well founded , and even if they weren’t, you have to put all those resources in,” he said.
It was further questioned that the family accused Pavez of being in the ex-partner’s residence, however, a week later was sought there.
The head of the Sernameg Women’s Violence Unit, María Loreto Franco, said that “we have made available from the first minute all the professionals of our centers to be able to accompany and grant the reparative justice that the family so desperately needs”.

The body of Maria Isabel was found in an apartment on Santa Isabel Street, at the height of 1800, where Igor González lived. This property, according to “La Voz de Los Que Sobran” is leased by Sebastián Izquierdo’s father to the victim.
As reported by the media, locals indicated the address where the event would have occurred and also that it was leased by Felipe Izquierdo.
The controversial far-right leader also assured– according to himself – that he met Igor Yaroslav and Maria Isabel, on Twitter, and that he spent seven hours collaborating with information to the POI.
