translated from Spanish: Companies to import COVID vaccines to sell in Mexico: AMLO

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that private companies will be able to buy the COVID vaccine abroad to market them in the country.
In a message the representative assured that his government will not put obstacles to the procurement of vaccines to other countries.
“It has been said that why it is not allowed to be sold in pharmacies. Of course, if there are companies that want to buy the vaccine abroad, we have no impediment, that is, to sell the vaccine that is purchased outside,” he said.
He clarified that his government’s efforts are focused on ensuring the free vaccine for the entire population regardless of its economic level.
“… Nothing but at the time, not because I have money, I’m going to get vaccinated first or I’m a politician or I’m influential and I’m vaccinated first, that’s not the thing, so it’ll be for everyone,” he added.
In his message, the president spoke of the start of the implementation of the COVID vaccine for first-line health personnel, and said that between 700 and 750,000 health workers will be vaccinated between January and March with the doses purchased from Pfizer.
López Obrador also spoke of the contract with the Chinese pharmaceutical company CanSino for 35 million doses, of which 2 million will be received in January and from February will arrive 3 million per month.
Finally, the president called on the population to continue to abide by preventive measures such as healthy distance and not leaving home if not necessary.
