“I have decided to renounce the Senate and all the privileges it entails, to return to the streets as a simple citizen and, from there, to participate as a candidate for the Constituent Convention, representing my beloved region of Auble,” the senator named him by the regions of Uble and Biobío, Felipe Harboe, who confirmed that he will nominate the Constituent Convention for the 19th arrondissement.
Harboe thanked his voters for trusting in his management and assured that this determination is not an end point, “but the beginning of a joint work that brings the voice of Uble to the Constituent Convention,” he said.
During the exercise of his duties, the current legislator succeeded in the creation of the region of Uble, passed the law on tariff equity, incorporated a lagging area in social matters into communes that required it. It strengthened the wine guild of the Itata Valley, helped entrepreneurs and trade unions, built social offices, managed to build the Hospital de Chillán, among other actions, both legislative and management for the region.
On his position as a constituent for the Uble region, Harboe stated that “I have the knowledge, experience and capabilities to participate in this Constituent, with more than 11 years integrating the Constitution committees of both the House and the Senate,” he established.
Asked by the proposals he proposes for the construction of the new Fundamental, the legislator assured that “one of my great efforts will be to consecrate in the Constitution a new catalogue of social rights: the right to health, the right to water, to housing, to education. Citizens’ rights in consumer and security, environment, culture, recognition of our multiculturalism and decentralization, which consolidates a welfare state that pays off the tasks to be done with future generations.” he said.
Finally, the parliamentarian called for unity: “It is time to understand each other, to communicate and reach agreements through fruitful dialogue. We are playing the next 50 years of Chile and this requires enormous generosity to reach agreements,” he concluded.
