Mexico.- The president of Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE), Lorenzo Córdova Vianello, published a video explaining the controversy that arose after the autonomous body warned that the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), better known as La Mañanera, it should be suspended during the 2021 election campaigns.Through his Twitter account, Lorenzo Córdova posted a video explaining that the intention of the INE is not to cancel or suspend La Mañanera del AMLO, but to regulate the transmission according to the criteria in force by considering that this exercise that takes place from Monday to Friday from Palacio Nacional is a propaganda event.

“In the face of the disinformation that has spread about the broadcasts of the morning conferences of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, it is necessary to clarify to the public that no one has proposed to suspend or cancel them,” said the president of the INE.
Lorenzo Córdova recalled that the current criteria should be respected as has been done in past elections in the different entities of Mexico, where morning conferences were not cancelled, but the transmission of these should be regulated as they could be influenced by elections in exposing government achievements.” The existing criteria that have been applied in the last two years state that during election campaigns the full transmission of these conferences should be suspended when they are considered to be a promotion of government achievements, they constitute government propaganda whose dissemination is prohibited during the campaigns, by our Constitution,” said Córdova.Read more: It is an act of censorship and attack on freedom: AMLO by cancellation of the INE of La MañaneraAsí, this year, from April 4, the transmission of La Mañanera must be moderated by the media in the entities where votes will be made, and the INE will be in charge of supervising that the current criteria are being met.
