Michoacán.- Through a statement the Supreme Indigenous Council of Michoacán (#CSIM), a council made up of 60 native communities, reported threats, harassment and disappearances by paramilitary groups against the p’urhépecha community of Santa Fe de la Laguna.   
They stated that on February 5 of this year, at 16:00 hours they arrested, disappeared and tortured two authorities of Santa Fe de la Laguna for more than 9 hours, those who were released because the community blocked the road as a demanding measure for them to be presented, subsequently declared on February 28, again community authorities received death threats from paramilitary groups present in the area, so the community is on high alert, strengthening its communal security and increasing its protest activities.
They stated that the CSIM fully supports the historic struggle of the community of Santa Fe de la Laguna (Ueámuo) for the reconstitution of its territory and also declares themselves a state of alertness, calling attentive and respectful to social, trade union, student and indigenous organizations to be attentive and provide support and accompaniment.   
They finally demanded that the Federal Government and the Government of Michoacán give guarantees of respect for the integrity and life of the communes of Santa Fe de la Laguna, act in accordance with the law, against those who harass and violent the community and not to suppress and/or criminalize the defense of the communal land of Santa Fe de la Laguna.

TO THE MEXICAN STATE
P’urhépecha communities as of March 1, 2021      
K’eri Kunkorhekua Iretecheri, the Supreme Indigenous Council of Michoacán (#CSIM), an autonomous and independent council, consisting of civil, communal and traditional authorities from 60 native communities, who are part of the National Indigenous Congress (CNI), we state the following:
The p’urhépecha community of Santa Fe de la Laguna, ancestrally called Ueámuo, is a community that has historically been characterized by the defense of its communal territory, for more than 50 years have given an example of organization, resistance and struggle, working to protect its communal lands.
In this context, they managed to delinde communal land in favor of the community in 1988, subsequently, managed to recover for the community the “Governor’s Rest House”, as well as the property of the “Piscícola Center” belonging to the Trust National Fund for Ejidal Development (FIFONAFE) and a “finca” of the Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT). Currently they have managed to recover 30 hectares of communal land invaded by quiroga individuals.
In this context of fighting for its communal land, the community of Santa Fe de la Laguna has recently received threats, harassment and disappearances by paramilitary groups present in the area and under the acescency of the Municipal government of Quiroga. On February 5 of this year, at 4 p.m., they stopped, two authorities of Santa Fe de la Laguna disappeared and tortured for more than 9 hours, who were released thanks to the community blocking the road as a demanding measure to be presented, then on February 28, again community authorities received death threats by paramilitary groups, so the community is on high alert, strengthening their communal security and increasing their protest activities. From the above:
1.- The CSIM fully supports the historical struggle of the community of Santa Fe de la Laguna (Ueámuo) for the reconstitution of its territory and communal land and we declare ourselves a state of alertness, calling attentive and respectful to social, trade union, student and indigenous organizations to be attentive and provide support and accompaniment to this dignified struggle.
2.- We demand from the Federal Government and the Government of Michoacán: Guarantees of respect for the integrity and life of the commoners of Santa Fe de la Laguna. Act in accordance with the law, against those who harass, violent and disappear commoners of the community. Do not suppress and/or criminalize the just struggle of Santa Fe de la Laguna.
3.- We are responsible for any attack on the physical and psychological integrity of the santa Fe de la Laguna commoners to both the State and Federal Governments, as well as the Municipal Government headed by Alma Rosa Vargas.
