translated from Spanish: There is still summer and you can always enjoy the wine this season

March arrived, but there is still heat and terraces to enjoy the wine. However, it is necessary to have some considerations to achieve a better experience
At low temperatures
The fresh, classic summer preparations are enhanced by wines at slightly lower temperatures.
“White, pink, foaming and light reds can be stored in a cava or in the refrigerator at about 5o or 7o. And it’s always a good option to keep them in ice cubes near the table, to enjoy and take advantage of the wines of
the best possible way,” says Angélica Valenzuela, commercial director of Vinos de Chile.
Temperature is key in the service of wines, and always the experience will be more pleasant.
Choosing light wines
In the heat the body will always be more prone to receiving drinks and food that are at the temperature of the environment. That’s why whites, rosés, sparkling wines and young reds are known as the allies of summer.
One tip: if it is very hot environment the recommendation is to serve less in the glass; thus we prevent the wine from steadying very fast in temperature and at the same time refresh it, since refill is more frequent.
Most marked acidity
Acidity is what gives vivacity and freshness to the wine. Wines that enjoy good acidity will always be fresher and easier to drink, and that’s what will make us not only refresh ourselves in the summer, but will also be an important part of the pairing we choose at lunchtime.
There are more acidic strains, such as white wine or carignan, but also to know if a wine is more acidic you have to look at the alcoholic strength. Since alcohol ends up being sugar and is therefore sweeter, a wine with lower alcohol content (less than 12%) will be more acidic and refreshing.
With more moderate alcoholic graduations
More moderate alcohol wines will always be fresher, less tired and therefore easier to drink. In summer it is ideal to choose wines that are not so alcoholic so as not to promote dehydration.
“But beyond this counsel, it is always essential to drink two glasses of water for each glass of wine; therefore, every time we order or buy a bottle of wine, it must always be accompanied by a bottle of water to take care of us and enjoy the experience better,” adds Valenzuela.
