When convicted, Lula was disqualificationed from public office and was also arrested in the midst of the 2018 presidential race, in which he had a broad advantage over Jair Bolsonaro, who later became president. Fernández always showed irrestrico support for Lula da Silva, to the point that during the campaign that he ended up erecting him as president of the Argentines, he visited him in the Curitiba prison where he was being held.
