translated from Spanish: Grants IMSS Michoacán facilities to process COVID-19 disability

Morelia, Michoacán.- The process for obtaining the disability by COVID-19 is easy to perform, said the director of morelia’s Family Medicine Unit (UMF) No. 80, Sara Elena Santillán Carrasco.
If the worker goes to the respiratory module as a suspect or confirmed COVID-19, the doctor extends the disability to him for the corresponding time and the subsequent document is processed by a relative of the same.
In the event that the worker has been confirmed or attended externally to the IMSS, a family member may go to the Family Medicine office that corresponds to the documentation that accredits him, and in the same way the initial and subsequent disability is issued.
The above facilities are in order to avoid discomfort to the patient with mild symptoms, favor their shelter at home, help to cut the contagion chain, turn instructions and grant respective treatment through the family member, coupled with telephone follow-up.
He added that in the face of aggravation of symptoms in the patient or an emergency situation such as shortness of breath, immediate access should be made to the respective hospital, where the corresponding disability process continues for the necessary days.
In any working source, the human resources department requests the disability document issued by the IMSS, but it must be processed on the next business day on which COVID-19 was confirmed, in order to prevent the days from elapsing, since there is no retroactivity.
Another option for users is to obtain work disability via digital, through the website www.imss.gob.mx.
Finally, he noted that many family doctors preferred the assistance of a patient for consultation review, at least once during treatment, in order to keep track on time, which should address the corresponding health measures when attending their appointment, but it is not mandatory.
