A podcast that seeks to highlight the musicalization behind the plays has been released by actress Adelaide Loyer.
It is “Entretelon”, which addresses 40 theatrical pieces such as “Apocryphal Letter of Pinochet”, by Paul Hernández, and “Letters of Love and Love”, by the singer Caro Fernández.

Origins
Loyer approached the theater through the puppets, in Mexico, with Monica Hoth and Leopoldo Estrada in the late 1990s, in Valparaiso with Teatro Escuela La Matriz in the early 2000s and currently with the OANI Foundation.
He was always interested in “knowing and learning, transversely traversing history through art, the political and social vision of theatre, of the life that artists have to lead in order to dedicate themselves to persevering in their disciplines”.
In 2003 he came to radio Valentín Letelier of the University of Valparaiso, with a proposal to broadcast billboard and promote scenic activities.
“How I could, on the radio, show more of the works, inviting characters linked to the creations of the montages, dramaturgy, stage, direction, but also the musical composition, and this, the musical creation, seemed to me to be of immeasurable relevance, the instruments that are used, the lyrics if there are songs, the sound universe that completes a theatrical piece. Interviews and conversations, recorded in the studio, were often accompanied by the instruments the artists brought, or the cd record,” he recalls.
The project
Now, after fifteen years, thanks to a public background, he managed to resume the realization of this project, now together with Ronald Smith, “collector of music and sounds, full of experiences, knowledge and musical journeys in time”.
“He edits according to historical moments, artistic trends and their relationship to music. We reinvented the project, as the regional billboard stops due to contingency. I joined their tours without a passport, thus generating a space for memory and registration, through the revision of plays and their soundtracks.”
Loyer explains that he wanted to focus on musicalization “so that he could hear the creations of the works that hardly come back. Listen, record and then be able to mount to show. Giving visibility and recognition in a media outlet, which values artistic work and how on radio could not broadcast images, and theatre is very visual.”
“I wondered how to convey to the audience something that happens in the present, but that can only happen and exist in the present. Theatre is like this, it happens in the ‘presentation’ and is completed with its audience, it is in this question that I find, in the frequency of the composition of the music, a loudness that remains, that becomes universal because the sound lasts on a frequency, in an amplitude… and it’s transverse to how short-lived the theater is, how short-lived life is. I think music has always been the great companion of all cultures and most people, hand in hand with their peer, silence, and so we have found ourselves in this time, in silence.”
Milestones
As this is a regional promotion and dissemination project, the selection is linked to the regional scene. An example is Nelson Rojas, the music director of the Teatro del Silencio, who lives in the Valle de La Ligua, as well as companies from other places have come to the region to perform shows and residences.
“We also try to give visibility to women, creators and composers, who have been breaking paths in the theatrical music scene and also in dance,” says Loyer.
One of his anecdotes occurred when quarantine opened in Santiago. “I went into the studio of (the musician) Cuti Aste with my PC, because he had the music of (the play) ‘Popol Vuh’ on a CD and had no way to burn it to send it. That was one of the best records I could get.”
Among other findings is to be able to know the process of creating the collective Las Tesis de Valparaíso, recognized throughout the world for his creation “A Rapist in Your Way.”
“Everything behind the musical creation that accompanies that great milestone that is now part of the history being written, not only in our region, but also in our country,” he concludes.
