The Sixth Oral Court in the Criminal (TOP) of Santiago today convicted two accused of simple damage and tempted fire, perpetrated on October 18, 2019 – at the beginning of the social outburst – at La Granja del Metro station.
Jeremy Ramirez, convicted of the crime of simple harm, received 540 days in prison. Omar Jerez, meanwhile, was sentenced for the crime of a tempted fire and must serve 800 days in prison.

When they were convicted on March 28, the court acquitted Ramirez of the consummated crime of fire and Jerez for the consummated crime of damages.
The Southern Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office expressed its displeasure with the classification of the fire crime to an “tentative” degree and will assess whether they will appeal to the TOP ruling.
“Based on the background gathered during the investigation – especially with the audiovisual records available – the public prosecutor’s charge was filed for the offences of fire and skilled damage, because we believe that this is the correct legal classification in view of the actions carried out by the convicts at La Granja station on October 18, 2019,” T13 said from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
