Through the Office for foreign property control (OFAC), the U.S. Treasury Department designated Carlos Andrés Rivera Varela and Francisco Javier Gudiño Haro, affiliated with CJNG, as significant drug traffickers.
Rivera Varela and Gudiño Haro belong to the CJNG group headed by Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán, “El Sapo”, who is blamed for Puerto Vallarta Square, Jalisco, and to be the intellectual author of much of the violence that plagues the entity.
