translated from Spanish: PRD expects INE to ratify cancellation to Salgado Macedonio

Mexico.- The parliamentary group of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) hopes that the National Electoral Institute (INE) will ratify the cancellation of the registration of the candidacy of Félix Salgado Macedonio, candidate of the Morena party for the governor of the state of Guerrero. At the same time, they urged President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his party to stop violent law and use public resources on behalf of their party. Three weeks ago, the electoral management body voted in favour of having Salgado Macedonio removed by not presenting the pre-campaign expenditure report established in electoral law and the sanction of which is the cancellation of registration.

Juárez Piña celebrated the determination to which on Friday the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation (TEPJF) came in deciding to return the case of the abolition of the candidacies of the two sighs of Morena to the state governorate of Guerrero and Michoacán, Macedonio, and Raúl Morón, respectively.

It should be noted that the Electoral Court imposed a fine of 6 million 573 thousand 391 pesos on the National Regeneration Movement for the above reason, even though both the candidates and the national leader of the party, Mario Delgado, and other militants of the political force had filed challenges against the INE’s ruling on the grounds that there is no “pre-candidate” figure in that party association. In this regard, the perredist MEP noted that the JUDGES of the TEPJF ruled that the two political actors who submitted the challenges did serve as pre-candidates, so they were required to comply with the expense documents requested of all those who assume such a role. Although Morena delivered the reports, she did not do so in a timely way, what in electoral laws constitutes an omission of the procedure, since these frame the period in which they have to be submitted. In this tenor, Verónica Juárez stated that the PRD supports the electoral body by stressing that it has acted under its autonomy both in these cases and in many others by admonishing transgressions to the Constitution and electoral laws. The PRD stated that they were repudiating the acts that had been being carried out as a form of pressure on the INE, especially some specific advisers. They also called for both President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Morena to “stop violating the law” and to misuse public resources to influence election elections. Finally, Juarez Piña emphasized that “a rapist will not be governor” alluding to formal accusations against the ex-mayor of Acapulco who has been told to have sexually abused at least 2 women.
