Morelia, Michoacán.- On Wednesday afternoon, the Electoral Institute of Michoacán (IEM) held its first debate among candidates for the governor of Michoacán, in a format of questions and answers on various problems that live the inhabitants of the entity.
The first block of questions was focused on economic development, where moderators questioned Mercedes Calderón, Abraham Sánchez, Hipólito Mora, Carlos Herrera, Cristóbal Arias and Juan Antonio Magaña what they would do to counteract the negative effects of the pandemic on the economic landscape.
Carlos Herrera, noted that an economic revival plan, focused on supporting the entrepreneurs who had to close their businesses, is urgently urgent; Mercedes Calderón emphasized generating funds for young people and single mothers, while Abraham Sanchez said young entrepreneurs should be supported from university education.

Cristóbal Arias explained that the pandemic demonstrated the poor health system in Michoacán and that it requires an update of both medicines and equipment; Magaña de la Mora said that work must be done under the understanding that the virus will not leave in the short term and the total closure of activities is not the right strategy, while Hipólito Mora showed the lack in the sector.
Among the aftershocks, candidates criticized Carlos Herrera Tello for his participation in the current state government and he subtly snlined from Silvano Aureoles Conejo, saying that “He did not add other people’s heat.”

However, Carlos Herrera said that if he wins the government, he would undertake a program to give laptops to students, without saying with what resources he could walk.
The most recurrent question that the IEM received was about the security strategy to be undertaken at the next six-year-long in Michoacán.
Cristóbal Arias was the first to speak mentioned that the issue must be addressed from combating corruption, with a review of security bodies and whether personnel; Mercedes Calderón condemned the work of current public policies in defence of women and then remained silent.
Hipólito Mora criticized the fact that the last governments do not “want to get into the subject”, even though there are municipalities and communities that are prey to criminal groups.
Magaña de la Mora, said that based on his experience, he believed that the issue of security should be dealt with from the root, touching on the issue from the legislative sphere and understanding that neighboring states also have to enter into coordination to deal with the fight against crime.
Abraham Sanchez, assured that if he won he would undertake a strategy during the first 5 days of government he would initiate a plan of review and attention of the polygons considered as red spotlights in Michoacán.
Hardening the sentences of femicide and kidnappers is another of the security proposals that Mercedes Calderón proposed if win.
In his speech, Carlos Herrera acknowledged that insecurity in Michoacán far from diminishing is increasing, so he proposed implementing technologies for security agencies.
