Mexico. – The Director General of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, José Luis Alomía Zegarra, said that the country has detected three cases of the South African variant of covid.
“Three variants of concern have been detected in the country, however, variant B.1.351 is the newest,” he said. “Yesterday the first identifications were made with the corresponding insulations. These are two cases in Campeche and one in Sonora, which corresponds to a resident of Baja California.”
During the Palacio Nacional press conference, Alomía mentioned that the three “of concern” variants detected in the country are not yet “a significant burden or predominance over the variants identified last year” for Mexicans.
It affirms the importance of its identification, so that it can be immediately communicated to the federal entity where it was located and the necessary containment measures can be carried out.
