translated from Spanish: Deputies acquit Morena senator accused of collecting Duarte bribes

The Instructor Section of the Chamber of Deputies last night determined that the request for the desaffronment of The Brownist Senator Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, accused by the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office of having taken bribes from former governor César Duarte, is not appropriate.
The resolution of no origin against the also aspiring mayor of Ciudad Juárez was endorsed by the unanimous vote of the Instructor Section, composed of two deputies of Morena, one from the PT and one from the PRI. Thus, the morenista will get rid of the prosecution’s accusations and will be able to continue campaigning and even win the election and assume the position of mayor.
The Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office involved Pérez Cuéllar in the same criminal case for which María Eugenia Campos Galván, pan’s candidate for the state’s gubernatura, as well as two local former PVEM and PRI deputys, was already linked to the process.

According to the indictment, included in the investigative folder 19-2017-13994, Pérez Cuéllar would have received bribes for 2.5 million pesos between 2013 and 2015, through six deposits from the Ministry of Finance, in a case known as Duarte’s “secret payroll”.
Pérez Cuéllar, who was a member of the PAN and in 2016 was a candidate for governor for Citizen Movement, is accused by the State Prosecutor’s Office of cover-up offences for reception and promotion of unlawful conduct, both provided for in the Criminal Code of the State of Chihuahua.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the Chamber of Deputies to defaffuero de Pérez Cuéllar by means of a declaration of source request on 1 December 2020. On December 7, the Instructor Section accepted the file for the e-death process, a matter that was finally closed last night in favor of the Brownist senator.

The governor of Chihuahua, Javier Corral, pointed out that the decision of the Instructor Section is evidence of selective justice, because while the morenista Pérez Cuéllar was acquitted, in the case of the representative of Tamaulipas, his panist co-religionist Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, an opinion was issued declaring his disafuero, as a result of which he may be accused by the FGR of organized crime, money laundering and tax evasion.

The opinion of the Instructor Section of the @Mx_Diputados in which it rejects the disafphase of Sen. @CruzPerzCuellar (Morena) and approves it vs @fgcabezadevaca (PAN) confirms the unfortunate story by which Mexico is not really advancing in the fight against corruption: justice as a way.
