translated from Spanish: VTR encourages local candidacies by granting spaces in its network of regional channels

In line with its commitment to promote regional television and the content that occurs there, VTR, together with its network of local channels, launched the program “Additional Minute: Because Our Regions Matter” through which in addition to offering audiovisual production, it seeks to make available to the community additional spaces to the candidacies that will apply to the different political positions , in a particularly electorally charged year. The space is available on the channels of the VIVE Chile network, composed of the Arica TV signals (Arica and Parinacota); Calama TV (Antofagasta); Vive Elqui (Coquimbo); Quintavision (Valparaiso); Sixth Vision (O’Higgins); TV8 Conception (Bio- Bío); ATV Valdivia (Los Ríos) and Vértice TV (Los Lagos). In this way, the objective is to meet the high information demand from regional audiences and the growing need on the part of voters to learn more about the proposals and ideas of the different alternatives, privileging a decentralized and regionalist approach. In this first stage, the work will focus on nominations to Regional Mayors and Governors, through the development of audiovisual information capsules in which each candidate has approximately 3 minutes to speak directly to their respective local voters. In a second stage, Additional Minute will repeat the formula, also generating interviews with candidates for deputies and senators during the last quarter of the year. Cyntia Soto, VTR’s corporate responsibility and sustainability manager, highlighted the initiative by stating that it is in the right direction of the work done more than 10 years ago by the leading telecommunications company, in promoting regional television and the generation of local content.” Through Additional Minute, VTR remains an active contribution in an increasing democratization of access to information, with a special focus on the development of content of high local information value. In this sense, considering a year unusually laden with political decisions important to the country, we seek to offer regional spaces that enrich the debates and allow a decision-making process as informed as possible,” she says. VTR thus reinforces its commitment to the development of television and the regional audiovisual industry, promoting the generation of more and better information spaces of high information value and interest that allow to strengthen the necessary local development outside the Metropolitan Region.
