translated from Spanish: Decree the first environmental alert of the year in the Metropolitan Region

The Metropolitan Intendency decreed for this Friday the first environmental alert of the year, due to poor ventilation conditions in the Santiago basin.
According to Emol, the regional authority made the decision preventively and to “safeguard the health of the population”.
Due to the low ventilation, air quality reached a “regular” level in Quilicura, Cerro Navia, Independencia, Parque or ‘Higgins, Cerrillos and El Bosque. At the rest of the Stations of the Monitoring Network, the air maintained the “good” quality.
“A surface cyclonic circulation and height run approximation regime was observed, with a minimum temperature of 5.7oC and a maximum of 18oC. By tomorrow, Friday, May 14, a weakened anticyclonic regimen is envisaged on the surface and passage of vaguada in height, with temperatures between 5oC and 18oC expected,” they reported through a statement.
“The regional authorities made a special call on the population to respect the measures decreed with this episode, especially the prohibition on lighting wood-fired and wood-derived heaters throughout the Metropolitan Region, as well as that of agricultural burning,” he added.
Vehicle restriction measures cover vehicles registered before September 2011, the patent of which ends in 6 and 7 for those with green seals. Cars ending in 2, 3, 4 and 5 which have no catalyst may not be circulated.
On the other hand, motorcycles whose patents end in 6 and 7 registered before September 2010 will not be able to drive.
