Leicester City again became champions in England, following the feat achieved by Claudio Ranieri in the 2015–2016 season, with the consecration of the FA Cup. Those led by Brendan Rodgers beat Chelsea 1-0 with a goal outside the Youri Tielemans area and won the 140th edition of the world’s oldest tournament. When the match was over, left-back Ben Chilwell – former Leicester – scored the goal of the tie but VAR overdulled him for a forward position.
Leicester reached the final match after beating Southampton in the semi-finals 1-0, while the ‘Blues’ had beaten Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, their rival in the Champions League final on 29 May, by the same result. It is the first time that the Foxes have won this trophy, which is added to the Premier League won in 2016 and the three League Cups they already have in their list.
