translated from Spanish: Mexico calls on UN to rule on Israel-Palestine conflict

During the middle-east security council session, Mexico’s ambassador to the UN, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, condemned the violence caused by the Israel-Palestine conflict.
He also said that the UN Security Council meeting is “impostergable” and to rule on the fact.
“Even though the situation on the ground is worsening day by day, this council has not yet been able to speak out,” the ambassador said.

“It is regrettable that the Security Council does not assume its role as one of the main guarantors of international peace and security,” he reiterated.
He condemned attacks on civilian and media infrastructure in Gaza, as well as rockets launched in Hamas.
Juan Ramón de la Fuente also said that the country “expresses its deep dismay at the rapid deterioration of the situation in the Middle East”.

He added: “We reject any act that jeopardizes the security of civilians, whether Palestinian or Israeli. Indiscriminate attacks, incendiary rhetoric and provocations only fuel the spiral of violence.”
“Nothing justifies the violent interruption of religious services; attacks on churches, synagogues, mosques or another place of worship are deplorable under any circumstances.
“Jerusalem must be space for the harmonious coexistence of the three monotheists religions. We call on the Israeli authorities to protect and respect freedoms of worship, association and movement in accordance with the respective resolutions of both the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council,” the diplomat asked.
On 11 May, the federal government issued a message expressing its “dismay at the rapid deterioration of the situation in Israel and Palestine” and called on all parties “to immediately cease any action that endangers the lives and safety of civilians.”
