The mayor of Las Condes, Joaquín Lavín, presented on Thursday his first programmatic bases of his campaign and his new spokesman for it, the mayor of Florida, Rodolfo Carter.
The proposals seek to be the programmatic basis points to what will be the “first government of a new cycle”, alluding to the on-the-fly constituent process, noting that “the next government will be a special one, one that must go beyond the traditional, beyond left and right whose mission is to listen, integrate and unite. Your mission will be to lay the foundations for this new Chile. Therefore, it will not be one of continuity, but will be the first government of a new cycle, the first step in the construction of a Chile for all.”
As for Carter’s election, Lavín expressed that it represents “the middle class, the commune that is the heart of the middle class, that chose you, that voted for you overwhelmingly, because you come especially to them and I think what Chile needs is that, that the middle-class engine that somehow went out in recent years was shutting down , we were carrying the backpack with stones, the CAE, the indebtedness, so many things and that middle class that in the last 30 years came forward, you have to start the engine again and pull up this country. I feel like you represent that and that’s why I want to summon you.”
Carter, meanwhile, thanked the election and told him that “with great humility I’m going to say yes, I’m going to play concho for you, the most important thing is to convey a hope to the people, a way out of tonight dark that has been the social outburst and then the pandemic, because finally there is no defeat or permanent victory , the only permanent thing is the people of Chile to which we owe ourselves.”
“I am sure that we will stand up again, that Chile is able to rebuild itself, the important thing is an environment of unity, peace, respect for diversity and a different way of looking at Chileans and Chileans, because we can no longer continue in a code of political parties or old coalitions , that Chile died, the real owners of Chile told us we want something different a fairer Chile between all and all,” he added.
