translated from Spanish: More than 80 schools in Morelia without water, could not return to face-to-face classes

Michoacán.- A total of 84 schools in Morelia do not have drinking water service, for which they will not be able to return to school. In this regard, the holder of the Secretariat of State Education, Héctor Ayala Morales reported that there was a register of 380 schools in the entity without the provision of the vital liquid, so they were given the task of putting tubs and cisterns, in addition to seeking agreements with the municipalities for the service to be granted.
However, he commented that in the case of Morelia the Ooapas gave them an account of 6 million pesos per water rent which, the official noted, was not used, so they insisted that this resource be better used in the purchase of inputs.
He said that cases such as La Piedad, Ecuandureo and Jiquilpan pledged to carry pipes constantly, other Chinicuila ordered meters of hose to fill the water to schools.
He also noted that about 70 per cent of School Health Committees have been installed, an average of 8,000 committees, with around 4,000 to be installed with support from municipalities and through which cleaning days have been carried out.
“If you do not secure the water supply to schools, have soap and the proper condition and functioning of the toilets, you will not be able to return to face-to-face classes,” Ayala Morales made clear.
He reported that 890 schools received various maintenance services to bathrooms changing furniture, painting, plumbing, among others.
She said that within the health protocols was the issue of vital fluid and even the request for support from the federation of 80 million pesos was made for sanitary supplies, for sanitary towels for girls, soap and toilet paper.
