The government of Tamaulipas announced the return to face-to-face classes through a pilot program, in 7 of its municipalities.
These are 11 schools (10 primary and one secondary) that were selected by the Technical Committee of the state’s ‘Return to Face Classes’ strategy, out of 60 who applied to be part of the pilot program.
The 11 schools will still be visited by the State Commission for the Protection of Health Risks (Coepris) which will verify that they meet the requirements for reopening.

According to the decree, published on Tuesday in the Official Newspaper of the state, the selected schools are located in the municipalities: Méndez, Ocampo, Gómez Farías, Palmillas, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, Camargo and Aldama.
These municipalities are located in green epidemiological traffic light, according to the update of 21 May.
The Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, will make known the names of the selected campuses.
The governor of the state, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca clarified that the return to school will be voluntary, responsible and safe.
On the other hand, the decree states that the return will be made on the basis of the Protocol for the Return to School Campuses of Basic Education in Tamaulipas, prepared by the Ministry of Education.
This paper sets out prevention recommendations and strategies for parents and guardians of girls, children and adolescents.
The Secretariat of State Health, Coepris and municipal authorities shall be responsible for monitoring compliance with the provisions of the Pilot Phase of the Return to Face Class Strategy.
The document states that the decree enters into force the day after its publication, so students would return to the classroom on Wednesday, May 26, however, a few days ago, the same state authorities noted that the face-to-face return would be Monday, May 31.

E.g. Nayarit and Campeche suspended face-to-face classes after returning from green to yellow traffic lights due to an increase in COVID cases.
In Campeche’s case, face-to-face classes had been resumed since April 19 at 135 schools, while Nayarit had scheduled for return to school by May 24.
While in Veracruz, the state government announced that from Monday, May 24, eligible schools can return to face-to-face activities, in a mixed, gradual and voluntary manner.
Other entities such as CDMX and State of Mexico plan to return to face-to-face classes during the first week of June.
