translated from Spanish: Candidates spend 6.7 mdp on campaign, then decline for Maru Campos

Ciudad Juárez – The three candidates for the Chihuahua government who in the final stretch of the campaign declined their aspiration to support María Eugenia Campos Galván, the standard-bearer of the coalition formed by the PAN and prD, jointly spent 6.7 million pesos during the proselytizing activities they carried out from April 4.
The money spent by Alejandro Díaz Villalobos de Fuerza por México (FXM), María Eugenia Baeza García de Sociales Progresistas (RSP) and Graciela Ortiz González of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) comes almost entirely from the erario, that is, public resources that were given to them by their respective political parties to finance campaign activities.
According to reports published by the National Electoral Institute (INE), an authority responsible for auditing the income and egress of political parties and candidates, until 24 May the three candidates had a cumulative expenditure of 6 million 798 thousand 318.35 pesos.

The amount of money they spent in the campaign to seek voter votes is higher than the budget that the Municipal Government of Juarez allocated this year in actions to prevent civilian risks, preserve the environment, spread art and culture or give psychological attention to the population, items in which a heading of less than 6 million pesos was allocated.
Also, with the money spent by the three candidates, the minimum wage, equivalent to 213.39 pesos per day, of 530 people during 60 working days, the duration of the bernatura campaign, could have been paid.
The INE reports show that of the three candidates who joined Campos Galván, the one who spent the most money on the campaign was the priista Graciela Ortiz, with a total amount of 4 million 222 thousand 660.87 pesos, of which 98.7 percent received them through transfers from the party’s concentrator account and only 1.3 percent came from contributions made by militants (12,000 pesos) and supporters (42,966.68 pesos).

Graciela announced on Tuesday, May 25 that she abandons her political aspiration to join the head of the panista María Eugenia Campos, in order to prevent Morena from winning the election in Chihuahua.
Alejandro Díaz, who declined to apply on 20 May, amassed an expense of 2 million 365 thousand 203.59 pesos, of which also 99.4 percent received them for transfers from the party’s concentrator account and 0.6 percent (14,500 pesos) from supporters’ contributions.
While María Eugenia Baeza, who on 22 May announced that she was joining the panista’s campaign, reported expenses of 210 thousand 453.89 pesos, an amount that was received entirely from the party.
None of the chihuahua gubernatura candidates who declined their aspiration approached the campaign spending cap set for his position, which is 64 million 616 thousand 266.46 pesos. The election campaign will end on Wednesday, June 2.
As of May 24, in 51 days of campaigning, the eight candidates registered to contend for the government have accumulated an expense of 42 million 307 thousand pesos.
The candidate who has reported the most expenses to the INE is Campos Galván, of the alliance “Nos Une Chihuahua”, with 15.6 million pesos; followed by Juan Carlos Loera de la Rosa, from the coalition “Juntos JuntosMos Historia” (Morena, PT and NACH), with 10.9 million pesos.
The candidate of the Citizen Movement, Jorge Alfredo Lozoya Santillán, carries an expense of 4.9 million pesos; while Brenda Francisca Ríos Prieto of Mexico’s Green Ecologist (PVEM), 3.7 million pesos; and Luis Carlos Arrieta Lavenant, of the Social Encounter Party (PES), 209 thousand 843.78 pesos.
