Penjamillo, Michoacan .- The former municipal president of Penjamillo, Jose L., was shot and his body found inside a compact vehicle, according to information obtained by this news agency, which was provided by contacts close to the matter.
The car in question was standing on the Boulevard of this town, where people saw it and when they detected that the victim was inside, he called the emergency telephone number 911.
With regard to the issue, the Attorney General’s Office disclosed the following in a press release issued today: “The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Michoacán (FGE) initiated an investigation folder in relation to the murder of the former municipal president of Penjamillo, José L., which occurred this afternoon in that municipal capital.

“Personnel of the Prosecutor’s Office went to the boulevard of the Penjamillo-Angamacutiro state highway, in the vicinity of a gas station, where a compact vehicle was located and inside it the lifeless body of José L., who at first sight had injuries produced by a firearm projectile.
“At the site, experts from the various disciplines in forensic matters work on the collection of data that contribute to the clarification of the facts.
“The Attorney General’s Office reiterates its commitment to move forward with the investigation in compliance with the duty to act under the principles of due process and full respect for human rights,” the agency said.
