translated from Spanish: PVEM could lose registration due to messages of support from influencers: INE

A financial fine, reduction of funding and even the cancellation of the party’s registration, are the fines that could be applied against the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico for the messages of support of dozens of influencers in the period of closure, reported the National Electoral Institute.
In a couple of messages, the INE noted that it is already investigating the characters who spread messages in favor of the PVEM on their Instagram accounts.

“(On June 5) A Special Sanctioning Procedure was initiated (a procedure that seeks to prevent or punish conduct that violates the rules on political or electoral propaganda, and anticipated acts of pre-campaign and campaign),” the Institute said.

According to the INE, as of this Friday “95 people who disseminated content in favor of the PVEM, the party and the advertising agencies are being investigated.”
The case file was sent to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) for resolution.
Possible punishments
In a second message, the INE reported possible sanctions for both the party and the people who issued the messages.

For the Green Party, the possible sanctions would be: reprimand, fine of 100 thousand days of SMG, reduction of up to 50% of its funding, and in case of serious and repeated conduct, the cancellation of its registration.
In the case of natural persons, the INE pointed out that the penalty can be a public reprimand or a fine of up to 2 thousand days of General Minimum Wage (SMG). While legal entities (which can be agencies) would be liable to a fine of up to 100 thousand days from SMG.

The characters involved will be summoned to vent evidence and it will be the TEPJF that determines if there are infractions and the sanctions that will be imposed in each case.
Just this Thursday, the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Electoral Crimes (FISEL) reported that it initiated an investigation against influencers who issued messages in favor of the PVEM.
The agency explained that it has received “numerous complaints through its citizen service systems,” related to messages from actors and actresses of national television, singers and creators of content on the Internet, who promoted the vote for the party on June 5 and 6.
“The Electoral Prosecutor’s Office, of this FGR, has initiated the corresponding investigations of these messages, which have been widely disseminated by the media,” he explained.
