translated from Spanish: Exodus from Congress Continues: UDI Deputy Issa Kort Appointed by the Government as Ambassador to the OAS

UDI Deputy Issa Kort Garriga will leave Congress to assume the post of Ambassador of Chile to the Organization of American States (OAS).
In this way, the UDI will have to appoint a new parliamentarian for the quota left by Kort as representative of the 15th and 32th Districts of the Region of The Liberator General Bernardo O’Higgins in the remainder of the legislative period.
Kort has been a deputy in three terms, since 2011, so he no longer had options to repost, and in the internal UDI he was a clear detractor of the leadership during the period of former President Jacqueline van Rysselberghe.
From 2018 to date, there are already 11 parliamentarians who have left Congress to assume other positions, as happened for example with two other deputies of the UDI, such as Jaime Bellolio and Patricio Melero who were appointed as ministers of the General Secretariat of Government and Labor, respectively, Víctor Pérez, who left the Senate to assume for three months as Minister of the Interior in 2020.
During his parliamentary career, Kort was chairman of the Family Commission and a permanent member of the Foreign Relations Committees; Mining and Energy; Culture, Arts and Communications; Social Development and Overcoming Poverty, and Work.
In addition, within the framework of his international activities as a legislator, he was chairman of the Energy and Mines Commission of the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino), also serving as President of various Interparliamentary Committees (Spain, United Kingdom, Japan and the United States) and the Political Dialogue Committee between the National Congress of Chile and the People’s Assembly of China.
