translated from Spanish: Deputy RN Sebastián Torrealba enters bill that increases penalties for homicides against policemen and restricts prison benefits to those who commit this type of crime

The deputy of National Renewal (RN), Sebastian Torrealba, presented a bill that seeks to increase penalties and restrict benefits to those who commit the crime of homicide against carabineros, PDI and Gendarmerie personnel.
This follows the death of PDI deputy inspector Viviana Vivanco, who lost her life after she was shot by a criminal in the commune of La Pintana. She is joined by Detective Luis Morales, and Carabineros members Eugenio Nain (corporal) and Francisco Benavides (sergeant), the three murdered in the Araucanía region.
“We have presented a bill to increase the prison sentences for those criminals who murder members of our police forces, both carabineros, investigation police and gendarmerie. We have raised them because it cannot be that the murder of people who are giving us security is normalized in our country,” the pro-government legislator explained.
Likewise, Torrealba added that the initiative also contemplates “that these criminals can not access any prison benefit until they have served at least 50% of the sentence imposed on them.”
“Today we have to defend our police and pursue with great force organized crime, drug trafficking and criminals who commit this type of crime. I hope this bill becomes law as soon as possible,” he concluded.
