Philippines. – Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is threatening to send people who refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to jail, as the country is yet to contain its worst resurgence.
“If he doesn’t want to get vaccinated, I’ll have him arrested and then I’ll inject the vaccine into his buttocks,” Duterte said during a television report.
“You decide, get the vaccine or I’ll put you in prison,” the president threatened, according to news portal Rappler.
Although vaccination is voluntary in the Philippines, the president says he will seek legal loopholes within the current emergency law to find a way to force people to receive it.

The warning from the president, who insisted he will act “within the law,” comes in the wake of low vaccination records in the Philippine archipelago, where 1.36 million cases, including more than 23,600 deaths, have been recorded since the start of the pandemic.
