Mexico.- The government of Tamaulipas, through the Secretariat of Public Security, reported in a statement that elements of the Special Operations Group (GOPES) arrested 8 people allegedly linked to the massacre that occurred on June 19 in Reynosa. One of them is presumed to be the “plaza boss” of the Gulf cartel.
According to the authorities, last Saturday, June 19, armed men entered different colonies of the border city and shot innocent people, killing 15 inhabitants, while four alleged assailants were killed in clashes with public security elements.
Among the men recently arrested is Iván Alejandro “N” and/or Jorge Iván “N” alias “La Vaca”, who is identified as “plaza boss” of the criminal organization called the Gulf Cartel in the City of Rio Bravo, identified as a major generator of violence in the Reynosa-Rio Bravo-Matamoros region, who also has an arrest warrant in force for various crimes and for whom since 2019, the Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas offered a reward of 2 million pesos, considering it a priority target.
