The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) will begin its next school year 2011-2022 on August 9 with distance learning, and will remain so for the rest of this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through its Gazette, the UNAM reported that schools and faculties may request the return to classes in person only if the epidemiological traffic light of the entity remains three weeks in green, in small groups and in a staggered manner.
He explained that activities such as annual management reports, university seminars, university chairs, as well as workshops, courses and various activities of an extracurricular nature, “will be kept at a distance until further notice.”

While the degree exams, management conclusion reports, congresses and conferences that are held in enclosed spaces must not exceed 20% of the capacity of the enclosure.
The UNAM said that as long as students are not vaccinated, face-to-face attendance will be voluntary and they may be summoned only to face-to-face activities that the technical councils determine as convenient or necessary to continue the school trajectory. 

The rules for return
In view of a face-to-face return, the University details that the use of raincoats will be mandatory within the facilities. 
In addition to the fact that when the return is given presences “will be privileged to the activities of welcome and recognition of our facilities for the generations that entered in August 2020 and the new entry of this year”.

“The incorporation of the rest of the student body will be carried out gradually in accordance with the progress of the National Vaccination Program and if the sanitary conditions allow it,” he said.
Meanwhile, academic and administrative staff will be reintegrated into their activities in a gradual and progressive manner.
